Barney Starts Hot: Spring Training Update 2 March 2014
Its too early to read much into the first week’s performance in Spring Training games, but its hard not to notice that Darwin Barney has started hot. Barney went 3 for 5 in the first handful of games, with a home run, 2 RBIs and a run scored.
Barney was followed by utility second baseman Elliot Johnson, now with the Cleveland Indians, who is 1 for 3 so far this Spring, also with a home run, 2 RBIs and a run scored.
Among pitchers, the standout performance (limited, given that more than half the Mormon pitchers haven’t pitched yet) was from Brandon Lyon, who threw a shut-out inning with one strike out.
