PostHeaderIcon Harper’s Homerun Duo: Majors Update 17 August 2014

imageThe Washington National’s Bryce Harper found a groove last week, hitting 2 home runs and earning 7 rbis in 21 at bats. After an injury-diminished and less-productive season than might be expected from Harper, last week had to be very welcome; his 2 home runs last week are a third of his total for the year so far and his 7 rbis raised his season total to 23. No doubt Harper hopes that he is back to his expected form.

On the mound, Doug Fister continued his fantastic pitching, working 14 innings in 2 starts without giving up an earned run. His season era is down to 2.20, but he needed another 3.1 innings on the mound to qualify for the leader board. He could make up those innings in as little as a couple of weeks.

Matt Lindstrom returned from the DL this past week, but didn’t do very well in his two starts last week. Darwin Barney also returned, from AAA, as a backup infielder for the Dodgers, and in his 9 at bats, he played week, scoring a run and earning 2 rbis. Josh Johnson remains on the DL.
